Open Shop Checklist
●Key Vaults – Hallway & Rear Entrance
Hallway – after unlocking the door, place key on the hook – right side of the monitors desk
Rear Entrance – if used, return to key vault after door is open and bar opener locked open,
●Turn on the lights
●Put your nametag into the monitors ID nametag holder on the monitors desk
●Locate and put on the “Woodshop Monitor” name tag
●Update the woodshop sign-in log – date, time, &, your name, if sheet is almost full, set up a second sheet for later.
●Turn on the “main” power switch for the exhaust system, turn “off” breaker #25, this will enable you to use the vacuum cleaner to vacuum the Ceiling mounted air filters (8). Turn breaker #25 “on” when people want to use the machines.
●Empty all the portable vacuums, (2) stainless steel, (3) larger units. Clean the filters inside each of the vacuums.
●Check exhaust vents in all locations, all but two (2) should be closed. The table saws, jointer, & planer are always to be left in the “open” position. Max of 6 vents open at any one time.
●Check all machine guards for proper positioning.
●Set the thermostats (2 units) winter day = 69; winter night = 66; summer = 75.
●Turn on the ceiling air filter units. Switch is located on the wall next to small band saw.
●Check all workers for: signing in on the log book, check to see that their dues are up to date, and proper eye safety protection is observed while working in the shop.
●Visitors – stay in the area of the monitors desk, they need eye protection if they venture into the shop where machines are being used.
●Requests by non- woodworker club members for performing woodworking operations – request to see their SCOV membership/activity card. Donations to the club can be placed in the donation box by the telephone.
●Observe club members while working in the shop, remind them to clean up their mess, on and around the machines.
●Wood storage area key is located in the Monitors desk – middle drawer, hook on the left side.
●Paint storage key is located in the same location.
●Seniors For kids Supplies – Dowels, wheels, and some wood belong to the Seniors Toymakers, These items are not for use by the general membership.
●There must be two people present in the shop, and one must be a current monitor, to safely operate any machines that have a cutting edge. ie table saws, band saws, miter box saw, radial arm saw, drill presses, router, etc.
●The key for the Bollard Post is in the monitors desk. It must be returned to this location.
