What's Required to Become a Monitor for the Wood Shop?
Ongoing Monitor Training starting Tuesday, December 6th at 4 PM in the Wood Shop. These Tuesday sessions will continue through the season and are for all monitors, and other members that are considering becoming a monitor. These training sessions should be helpful to those members that need training on equipment to become more comfortable acting as a monitor. You do not need to sign up, just show up a little before 4 PM on Tuesday, December 6th in the Wood Shop.
A Monitor must be present in the shop during operating hours. (9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Mon. - Fri.) If no Monitor is available, the shop will be closed. At least two people must be present in the shop when woodworking machines are operated. At least one of those must know how to summon aid if required.
Monitors are given the responsibility of supervising the woodshop and the use of equipment within. The lead monitor ensures that monitors are qualified in the use of equipment and trained in related safety awareness measures. Monitors have the authority to deny the use of equipment to any individual who is either unable or unwilling to abide by stated safety rules.
